The Baldwin Trust , the local community Narrowboat charity, have recently started to offer one hour narrowboat trips to children and grown-ups  during the summer holidays.

On each Wednesday from 19th July to 23 August, boat trips are being offered starting next to Birstall Lock very near to the White Horse Public House, Front Street, Birstall.

summerEach trip can take 12 passengers, and the 72 ft long boat  "St Clare”  can be boarded just beyond the lock on the Leicester side.

The trips are on an hourly basis, starting at 10 am, the last trip being at 4pm.

Children must be accompanied by an adult - The trip costs £5 per person although ages 3 and under travel free.

This is a great way to see wildlife at close quarters, and to enjoy the wonderful countryside views, and is a good way to while away the time during the holiday period.

Booking is not required.

(Longer duration trips for groups of up to 12 people can also be arranged - for details please click here )
